Westpork Piggeries (2 MW) – Solar, Wind and Retail

Location: Multiple, Perth Metro and Mid West

Output: 356 – 2,000kW (solar, wind and retail)

Commissioning: 2017 / 2018

Westpork is WA’s largest pork producer with multiple piggery sites throughout Western Australia.

AER recently offered a comprehensive turnkey energy supply package to Westpork under a long term power purchase agreement.

Stage 1 included the commissioning of 356kW of solar PV at its various sites. AER designed, financed and installed the systems. AER now owns and operates the systems and supplies discounted solar energy to Westpork under a long term PPA. An electricity retail agreement operates in parallel to ensure low cost energy supply through both the solar system and a traditional supply from the Western Power network.

Stage 2 will include the installation of further solar capacity and the installation of wind and battery storage at Westpork’s largest sites moving the piggery toward being supplied by 100% renewable energy. The renewable energy generators will create a virtual power station which will allow excess energy from one site to be consumed at another, reducing the long term costs of electricity at all Westpork sites.

AER will develop, build, own and operate all renewable energy assets ensuring reduced cost for Westpork, and no in-house operational risk for the business.
